Privacy Policy

Your game library is stored on your device. You do not need an account to use the app.

Your game library

PlayTonight stores the games you add, source URLs, platforms, tags, notes, progress, ratings and recent Tonight picks in an App Group container on your device. The Share Extension writes to the same container. We do not synchronise your library with a PlayTonight server. Catalogue lookups and sharing are described below.

Game discovery, search and cover art

When you open Discover Games, PlayTonight asks our catalogue service for featured game lists from IGDB. When you search for a game title, it sends the search text to that service for matching game details. Opening a single-game share preview may send that game’s title to our catalogue service and IGDB to find missing cover art or a game link, even if you later turn off Include links. When you share a collection with game links enabled, selected titles without a saved game link are also sent to those services to find the link. The service temporarily caches results and uses your IP address to limit requests; your notes, ratings and progress are not sent for these lookups. The share sheet sends only the content you choose to the destination you select. When you view a game cover, your device contacts IGDB's image service, which may receive your IP address and technical request information. If you select a result, its title, release year, platform, IGDB ID and cover link are saved in your local library. You can still add a game manually.

Links you save

When you share a YouTube or TikTok link, PlayTonight may contact that service to retrieve the video title or caption. Available titles, captions or text supplied by the sharing app are used to search our catalogue service and IGDB for possible game matches. Other web links may use Apple's LinkPresentation system to suggest a title. These requests reveal your IP address and technical request information to the services contacted. You can choose a suggested game or enter its name manually, and your source link is kept. PlayTonight does not save page preview artwork.

Subscriptions

Apple processes billing, and RevenueCat checks purchase history and entitlements needed to offer and restore PlayTonight Pro. RevenueCat assigns a random anonymous app user ID to manage subscription status. It receives purchase records and limited technical information, such as device type and operating system, and may use purchase history for app functionality and analytics. We do not send your game titles, notes or ratings to RevenueCat as customer attributes. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.

Your choices

You can remove individual games or use Settings → Clear Local Data to erase the game library and recent picks. An anonymous count of Tonight picks for the current week remains on-device until the week resets, so the free weekly limit still applies. Removing the app also removes its local data, subject to iOS backup behaviour. Subscription records remain with Apple and RevenueCat under their policies.
